Chakras: the Psychic Centres Of Yoga and Tantra –
Prana, the universal cosmic energy sets up great vortexes of psychic energy in certain parts of the nervous system, creating Psychic Centers often called Chakras or wheels of psychic energy. We’re energized through the energy pathways often called Nadis and energy vortices often called Chakras. These psychic pathways and vortices are positioned in our energy body, the Pranamaya Kosha and go right as much as the Anandamaya Kosha, the universal body.
As per Rishiculture Asthanga Yoga tradition codified by Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri there are a complete of 12 Chakras. There are six lower and 6 higher charkas. The lower charkas are related to the physical body and are often called Pinda Chakras. The upper chakras are related to the Cosmos often called Pinda Chakras.
Each Chakra can also be related to different psychological qualities and has specific Asanas and Pranayamas to focus the Chakric energies. Also they are related to the subtle elements often called the Tanmatras and the Prana Vayus or subservient types of Pranic energy.
