Eloise is a 50-year-old orangutan with disabilities similar to those who could also be related to cerebral palsy. Animal care staff on the Los Angeles Zoo provide physical therapy, specialized habitat design, and positive behavioral enrichment to make sure she lives a healthy and comfortable life. Eloise and the opposite orangutans on the L.A. Zoo act as ambassadors to their critically endangered species, whose wild habitats are being lost to unsustainable sourcing of palm oil.
